Looking for comments or any feedback about a Crate MX65R amplifier. The cabinet is well built and has a 12"Crate speaker.I thought it might make a good practice amp.

The pawn shop next to my place of work is asking $140 for it.Any advice welcome.

Andy,

I use a Crate V50-112 amp, all tube with a twelve inch Crate speaker. I replaced the pre-amp tubes with 12au7,and I'm happy with the sound using Donny Hinson's EQ settings.

Andy...Price may be a little high. Crate amps routinely appear on the local Craigslist for less than $100.00.

Pawn shops are notoriously proud of their cheap crappy equipment... very seldom (any more) will you find an under-priced, or even a resonably-priced, *anything*, at a pawn shop.

I just Googled "Crate MX65R" and found many on CL for $100 or less... one was $50, with a broken knob or two.
See if your local pawn shop will take less.
