Hey there you all,
Now here's a question only a steeler could love. Or answer I am sure. It never ceases to amaze or amuse me the interesting places the steel guitar pops up, soundtracks, commercials, etc. I hadn't seen the 1946 Frank Capra film "It's a Wonderful Life" in a very long time, it was on the other night and during the very odd honeymoon scene, in the rundown hotel, there's this rather incongruous (I guess that was the point) Hawaiian music as the underscore. There was this FANTASTIC steel playing throughout the scene, and I am pretty sure from the tone and the playing that it had to be Jerry Byrd.
Any of you happen to know the scene I am talking about? I know talk about some real steel minutiae here, but it's my passion, what can I say.
Hope you all are having a great day.

I remember that seen -- in 1946 the steel guitar was all the rage , at music store’s that offered music lessons , steel guitar would have as many as 25 or more student in one class , and maybe 2 or 3 classes in a day -- how times have changed |
