Can you play it like ________. Nope .....couldn't even begin to play like __________. So I just do what I can and hope it works. I don't even consider myself a steel player.....I PLAY ON the steel. I enjoy it. |

If one is striving for that unique sound, why would one want to sound like someone else?
I tend to focus on the melody; then, how does my playing fit but not make an ass of myself. |

With many bands it helps to be able to play the parts from the recordings if you want to keep the gig. _________________ Bob |

Bob, Very true if your object is to make money at playing........and especially if you plan to make a living at playing. I am 76, retired (er uh retarded) and don't care. I do see a lot of competition between steelers but I also see pros that will not play other peoples material. |
