Up for sale is a 1940 National model 75 amp. This one was built before the formation of Valco, and instead says "National-Dobro" on the panel. This was a mid-size amp for its day: a pair of 6L6Gs put out 16W through a 12" field-coil speaker (I believe it's a Rola, but can't be sure). You can check out the schematic here. The amp is as simple as it gets: one volume control determines whether you get warm, woolly, compressed cleans or warm, woolly, compressed overdrive. This is a great amp for getting that early jazz and blues sound (especially when coupled with an archtop guitar), and sounds great with lap steel as well. The amp was serviced by a prior owner and now works perfectly with no issues at all. They did install a 3-prong plug, but it's only 2ft long. The handle is a replacement, as are a couple of screws holding on the back panel, but all the major components are original. Aside from some mild staining of the covering, it's pretty clean for its age.
The price is $535 shipped in the US, or $500 for a local deal.
