is a peavy vypyr 30 30w combo a good amp for steel im having trouble lifting my 80lb amp _________________ a retired truck driver who is still driving. and loves steel...... |

I don't know anything about the vypyr but just a few days ago I got a Peavey Nashville 112 and I love it. It sounds great for pedal steel. It is a lot lighter than 80lb. I think it is just over 40lb.

A 30w amp is too small unless you don't get outside your music room, but then you wouldn't need to carry it either! I would recommend either the Roland Cube 80XL, which is what I chose, or the Nashville 112. Both weigh around 40lbs. The 112 ,nuff said.Wish the 112 had come out 40 years sooner,I would'nt be walking sideways today.In the past several years since I got my 112,I have'nt had a gig it could'nt handle. Will admit it does not have the bottom that a twin with JBL'S or a Peavey 500 BUT the difference in size and weight is well worth it. My sweetie found me a peavey transtube 112 bandit. all the way from New York. looks like new all for under $200.00. played it last night at a jam session wow power to spare..much lighter then my peavey 400. thanks to all for the info. and help
