Well, I am trying to start getting the word out about our annual steel guitar show. As most of you know I try to do this each year to raise money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. For the past three years we have been fortunate to have some great players to show up and support our cause. In the past we have had such guest as Russ Hicks, Smiley Roberts, Lynn Owsley, Herby Wallace, Randy Beavers, Mike Bagwell, Larry Sasser and many players from the Atlanta area. It is great to get this kind of support from these great players. This year we have had a lot of players already volunteer to help us. Our guest players for this year so far are John Hughey, Herby Wallace, Rob Parker, Bill Ferguson, Larry Moore, Bill Nicholson, Bill Cunningham, Tim Hamilton, Clyde Bloodworth, Mark Van Allen, Roger Crawford and the list goes on. If you are in, or going to be in, the Atlanta area on Sunday Feb. 5, 2006 we would be pleased to have you come by and enjoy this great event. The show this year will again be at the Yaarab Shrine Temple on Ponce de Leon Avenue Atlanta, Georgia. If you want more information please contact me. I look forward to seeing you.

Let me add that we would not be able to do any of this if it wasn't for the great staff band which include:
Woody Ledford, Guitar
Johnny Thomas, Guitar
Wayne Stowers, Drums
Jim Hartley, Drums
and Wayne Smith on Bass. These guys are some of the best. Some of these guys record with some of our guest. I appreciate all the dedication you guys have given to our cause. I thank you so very much.

You guys have a good time up in Atlanta, looks like we are out so we just might take a trip to farmers Opry and our old stomping grounds. We lived there in Pensacola from 1959 till 1973, sure has grown up there.Lots of friends there to visit, and churches to play at. Have a good time we will see you at the next show, sure will miss ya'll.

Ernest, I hate you will not be there with your smiling face and heart of gold. We will miss you not being a part this year. We have had some player that have not had the opportunity to play, request a spot on the show this year. I wish I had the time to give every player that wants to play the opportunity to display their talent, this is totally impossible. I pray these players will continue with their support so we can build a good Steel Guitar Show, so all player who have had a part in building it can be proud of the outcome. Each musician that has played a note on the Shrine stage can be proud to say they were instrumental in the $3000.00 raised for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. I thank you for your part and I hope you stay a part of the family.

I am really looking forward to another one.
Here are a couple of pictures from the last one courtesy of Don Crawford, our un-official, official photographer. (I just figured out how to post them yesterday ) And Jeannie swears she didn't hit Wayne the night before.

Yep...looking like another great show to bennefit the Shriner's Hospital. And $.98 of every dollar donated goes directly to helping these kids. That's the highest percentage of any charitable organization on record. And the cause is the most nobel. Jerry is asking for a modest $10.00 donation to hear some of the finest local and Nashville talent you can find. Let me offer a challenge to all GaSGA members to match my $20.00 donation.
See You On The 5th,
