We were on a roadtrip to Minnesota last weekend and my son Bill and I stopped off at the Williams Guitar Company in Oak Grove north of the Cities. Bill Rudolph and his son Tim took time from their busy production schedule and gave us a nice tour of the plant. That would be them in the picture with Bill Western (on the left). The custom guitar on the bench is in the works for a well known U.S. pedal steel player and looked fantastic. They crafted an amazing number of instruments last year and their pride and enthusiasm in their product shows on their faces and conversations as well as their guitars.

I'm a happy Williams owner. I've owned over 100 guitars over the past 41 years of playing. I converted a D-10 Series 400 into a S-10D, 4 & 4. Body is lacquer, mechanically, guitar is one of the best, if not the best I've ever had. I'm still trying to find a pickup I like with the S-10D. So far, I've used a 10-1, BL-710 and now a BL-610 and the lows are good but the highs are really sharp. I may try a Truetone next but I'm waiting on a Steel Mill single coil pickup. I'm still working with a NV-112 and still trying to get some of the highs tamed down with the 610. I'll keep on until the right pu is in it. I'd recommend a Williams to a buyer before anything else.

Another photo from Bill and Tim's shop when I picked up my guitar in 2010. Great guitar, great service.

Found what I was looking for. Remembered reading post about players loosing bolts that tighten necks on p/p's. Loosened neck bolts on the Williams and wham! Don't even sound like the same guitar now. It toned down the highs and strengthened the lows also. Exactly what I was looking for. Surprise, surprise!
