Am I behind the times or did we lose Buddy Harmon ?

According to FaceBook , someone made an announcement of his passing . If that's true ,we've lost a good one .

The group I was with recorded at Studio B back in 1967 and Buddy was on the session . I remember asking him {after all I was just barely dry behind the ears} how many sessions he did in a week . It was on a Thursday and he said "this is my 34th one this week".....I never questioned him and I didn't do the math but suffice to say that he was in his heyday and busy as a beaver . That was a time when every studio in town was busy including both A and B at Victor . Them were the days ! ! !

Larry,

Buddy was a great kidder and if you go by the way sessions were counted in those days he could have only done 4 a day.

The day was divided into 4 sessions 10-1 2-5 6-9 10-2 AM

He could have done 12 already that week or perhaps 34 that month.

He was a nice guy and so modest.

Bad news. Nearly every older musician I have met from Nashville have held Buddy Harman in the highest esteem. He was a very versatile player who could swing as good as any drummer.

I spent a couple of days with Buddy in 1997, as he gave me my orientation into the Nashville Association of Musicians, Local 257. I framed the receipt and letter I received because of Buddy's name. It was an honor for me to share this time with such a talented and respected man of country music.

Buddy passed away in 2008 according to the date on the announcement above.....Buddy was a nice man and a wonderful cornerstone to the many hits he played. His name comes up often with respect. When he played a shuffled with Pig and Moore in the engine room it never felt better.....What a legacy he has, he is sincerely missed.
