I have seen Dwight a ton. He rarely has a steel player. Maybe you will get lucky.
He puts on one of the best shows you will see.

If Skip Edwards is on the show he may play steel, although he is mostly on piano. He will most likely pop in on this thread anyway. Hey Skip!

Hey Chris... No, I'm not on this one. DY's got a utility guy (Brian... spacing on his last name...senior moment...) that plays some steel, keys, banjo, rhythm gtr, etc...

I'm pretty much retired from touring, although I still do weekend trips with Johnny Rivers. No steel on that gig, just piano & B3.

Well Dwight was LOUD but apart from some sound issues he was great, played a lot of his older stuff plus 1/2 dozen off his new record 3 Pears . Eugene someone on guitar and yes Skip , Brian someone on everything else including a couple of songs on steel . His Hammond sound was great but the steel got lost in the mix .
Had a seniors moment myself and left my glasses at home so could not not make out what he was playing , through my blurry eyes it could have been a Fender 400 or 800 but then again it could have been anything .
As I said it was loud and my ears are still ringing ...more than usual !

Aw shucks, Billy, thanks mucho. I'm looking forward to the Phoenix show myself...

Brendan, Dwight loud??!! What a surprise...(said with the utmost in sarcasm...)
DY owns a couple steels...he's got a red Pro I, and a sunburst Fender 400 (one of those under the bed for 30 years stories - in like new condition). Brian was most likely using one of those. Dwight's also got a Nord keyboard that fits into a shell that looks like a Vox Continental organ.

Hope you enjoyed the show. I was down your way with DY in '96.
Cool town, Melbourne.

BTW is Dwight Yoakum his real name ?[/qHis full name is Dwight David Yoakam. At one time, Gary Morse played steel for Dwight. Gary used Fender amps with Dwight for awhile and he played Sho-Bud steels with Dwight onstage. One of Dwight's videos had a singleneck steel in it called "What Do You Know About Love"

Hey Brett, Gary used 2 Peaveys...don't remember whether they were Nashville's or LTD's, but they were the model with the smaller cabinet. He would place them to his left and right (rather than behind him), and tilt them back with Fender tilt-back legs.
btw, he replaced the Peavey logos on the grills with a couple of those chrome female profiles...like you usually see on the mudflaps of trucks...

After Gary left the group, Dwight got a pair of those Fender Twin Reissue's with a 15"...wonderful amps. Those are most likely what Josh was using with DY. I used them with him also, and Brian is probably using them now.

I haven't seen that video with the single neck, but that's one of Gary's ProII's on the record... I forget which one he used.
