| can you still get the kit to do a batteryless modification to the PeaveyProfex II? Anyone know where from? |

Instructions:
Avoid wearing knit clothing when working on the unit. Cotton is more of static free clothing. Components are static sensitive.
1- Save your settings to a memory card or Midi-librarian such as Peavey Midi-Filer, Yamaha Midi-filer.
2- I have now found I can just bend/wiggle the battery back and forth to break it off, no de-soldering needed!
3- Clean up any battery residue with a Q-tip and denatured alcohol or acetone (the wife or girl friend's fingernail polish remover).
4- Remove the old chip (U502, Profex 2 and Bassfex) from the plug-in socket. A small flat blade screwdriver will help pry it out of the IC chip retaining socket. Note the direction of the notch in the chip. Note, chip number is printed on the circuit board, not on the chip
There is a different chip number on the Transtubefex and Tubefex (U507) original memory chip.
The PC1600X would be chip (U104).
5- Insert new memory chip with notch in same direction. Note the 10K resistor soldered on to the new chip keeps it happy on power up!
6- Re-install top
7- Reinitialize Profex 2 by holding down the "PLAY" and "GLOBAL" buttons and then apply power.
Use “DOWN” and “RIGHT” arrows/cursors for Session 2000, Transtubefex, Tubefex and Transtubefex.).
For the PC1600X holding “UTILITY” and “ENTER” while powering on.
For old Profex:
HOLD THE PLAY AND MIDI KEYS THEN POWER ON.
8- Unit will say "MEMORY INITIALIZED TO FACTORY SETTINGS"
9- Release buttons.
10- Adjust view angle with global settings to desired view
11- Reload settings |

| Thanks for this advice. I have just bought a Profex II and the seller did not know if the modification had been done. Once it arrives I shall have a look inside. Presumably the obvious thing to look for is whether there is still a battery where you circled in red on your diagram. |

John, I had Ken do my TubeFex sometime back....no more worries!!
Ken, do you still sell the mod kits for the Session 400 and 500? Are they plug n play components? I'm thinking I should do both my Sessions soon....

Never sold a kit for the Session 400, we install one here only. Too many parts too sell such a kit for end user installation. Such a kit requires electronics expertise and most folks do not have that. Even if they did I could not bear the tech support time it would create.
There is a kit for the Session 500 on my website.
It is plug and play. |
