Can't find a decent link without either discount price or some loading problems, but basically it's tailpiece mounted mic with an outboard pre/eq/ on a belt clip. It's the ABS 2system from GoldTone.
Anybody here using one of these? Any thoughts? |

Sometimes difficult to mount. Preamp was nosier then I prefer. I tried one of the first ones. Things may have changed.

Thanks Howard. Some interest here. I noticed Jim Heffernan had them in his Country Store....and also Beard's Resophonic Outfitters among others. |

Sure thing. The mic element was decent enough. A SM-57 clone.

There was quite a bit of discussion on the Goldtone when it first came out. Much of it was a comparison to another popular attached mic, the K&K Silver Bullet. I went with the K&K and am happy with the choice for how I play. A brief comparison:
GT ABS - Dynamic mic, freq response less, somewhat less prone to feedback (as reported by users).
K&K - Condenser mic, better freq response better, easier to move to other instruments (with velcro attachment), less expensive, somewhat more prone to feedback.
