I would kill for a good transcription of his Panhandle Rag... good luck. It's on iTunes, off of The Complete Live 1965 Show album. The definitive PSG version in my book.

'Cool It" is a wonderful candidate for S12 universal of course.

| I sadly remember all the times I saw Buddy when I was visiting Billy Cooper's Music in Orange, Va., and I never thought to bring my camera and have my picture taken with him. IMO, he was always friendly and had a good word or two. I guess that I never thought of him passing until it was too late. |

Hi Alex,
You might want to try getting in touch with Billy Cooper. He might be able to help, or at least steer you in the right direction.
I worked with Billy for a year, and Buddy for 8 years playing guitar. Both taught me a lot about playing and humility!

I posted "Pass The Booze" in the tablature section. Unfortunately, with two gigs coming up and tons of original material to prepare, I don't have time to do one of those big instrumental numbers, although for sure they would be fun. Maybe later...

Thanks for that Alex. I thought it was a great example of Charleton's inventiveness and phrasing without being too cumbersome. Plus its a great tune.
Another thing. Does it sound like the strings are close mic'd at the end of the solo? If not, how did they get that sound? I'v heard it on other albums from that era, but jsut here and there. Or is it a mechanical sound artifact particular to those old Sho-Bud's? So cool. |
