Have not been up there for a while, it was lots of fun, Roger Quick was there to play lead guitar, it is some evening when a lead playere knows when to play and when not to, if I could bottle that up I would give it away to those that need it, and I would need lots of it. When one of us would take the lead and stop the other was right there to take it up.
Going back next week if i can get away.

Hi Ernest, it seems that knowing when to pick is something that most pickers have a hard time learning even drummers are notorius for over playing.
I know what you are saying though when you do find another player that you can work well with and him and you both know when to play it's definintly a pleasure. I've know several other players that I jive with and it's always good news when I hear we're going to be playing a gig together.
It seems even I had trouble learning when to play and I was lucky enough to be working with some very patient people in my early career. Once a person see's the light of when to play it seems very silly that we ever did overplay but I guess that's all part or the learning process.
It does make you wonder though how some players that have been playing for years ever got that far without learning the fine art of underplaying. Very good thread Earnest!!
