I've got a Peavey Transtubefex in need of repair. Any of you electronic repait techs wanna take a shot at it?
The problem is -- with the guitar plugged into the front input and the amp plugged into the left/mono output, the output signal "crackles & sputters", then quits. The front panel lights and the display remain on. Turning it off then back on returns the signal, but not for long.
Just tell me where to send it, and an estimate if possible. |

Have you tried cleaning the input/output jacks? All of them? I'm no expert, and I've never owned a TransTube, but I've managed to restore 4 old Peavey amps to like-new sound by simply cleaning the jacks with Radio Shack electronics cleaner in a spray can. And for the older-style jacks, a little burnishing of contacts with a points file, and retensioning the springy part. One of the amps was completely dead, two of them were cutting in and out, and the 4th was simply making a bacon-frying sound from the speaker when I played a low note. And all I did was clean the jacks to bring them back to life! |

Thanks for that info, Tommy. I'll try that. I sure hope it's that simple. |

I had a TranstubeFex. If powering off/back on fixes it temporarily it sounds more like an internal problem.
My TT Fex developed a problem and Peavey didn't have new parts (board) to repair. They had to rob the board in Mike Brown's lab unit to repair mine.
How about the battery inside? If its carroded and has damaged the circuit board, if can be beyond repair. |
