Hey, anybody ever played a Zum Stage One? Is it a quality steel or crap like the Carter Starter? Considering a trade for one, but I don't know a thing about the Stage One. Thanks for your input!

Excellent guitars! I tried one out and I wish I had bought it. It is a pro grade instrument for both tone and mechanics.

Alan, you might want to check out this thread in the Pedal Steel section:

http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=233812

An experienced player was asking about light weight instruments, and I and several others recommended the State One and the new Encore, also from Doug Earnest to Bruce's designs/methods.

You can also search it here and read tons of reports. I think I've only ever read one negative report. That does not include the issue with a fixed copedent, which means it might not be suitable for all players.

Doug (not Earnest)

Some folks think my PSG looks just like a Stage One.

I take it to all my gigs. Easy on my back takes up less space than my dinner bucket.
Sounds plenty good for the kind of girls I go with.

compared to the Carter Starter the Stage One is definitely NOT a piece of crap !
it's a reliable in tune beginners psg / great Bang! 4 $
i've sold many & still doing so
some pros are using them since they're lightweight & can be carried on in a plane
