Can someone tell me the difference between premium polished necks and regular necks on a Carter? I was told my Carter has the PP necks when I bought it, but I don't know how to tell the difference. I've never seen another Carter "in person". Also... how do you tell if the guitar was built with the "body contact technology"? Thanks.

The standard Carter necks have rolled (rounded)edges and are polished. The premium necks have squared edges and are jeweled.

Roger described them, I'll post pix.

Don't call them "PP".
Our world reserves that for "Push Pull".
although...
Push Pull Necks look like the "Premium Polished" necks. Rolling Eyes

BCT was introduced around 1998. You can search for more exact info, but if you have the premium necks you have BCT. The neck option came several years later.

Hah Hah, I thought twice after I typed in PP. Figured it was OK in context. Thanks guys. It appears mine has the regular necks. How about the body contact thing? I'm gettin ready to sell the guitar and need to know what to list.

I just edited my post while you were asking the BCT question.

So everything after 98 or so has BCT? I think mine's a 2001. Serial number 0004001120. Thanks again.

I believe 1998/99 is a the crossover period.
Mine is a 1999 with BCT.

I seem to recall there was a "Premium Polish" option that had nothing to do with necks.

It was for buffing parts (pedals, etc)to a high luster.

Mark, here's an old post by Ann Fabian that basically explains the BCT

Joey, maybe that's what the seller was explaining to me when I bought the guitar. That would make sense.

Thanks Rick, You'd think a person would do the research before buying a guitar!

To reiterate what Joey said, the premium polish only referred to the KLs and pedals, The stock necks are rounded and polished, the Premium Edge necks are like an Emmons neck, jeweled on top, square edged and polished on the vertical surfaces. This was an extra cost item, of which only about 200 were made (collectible?)I believe they came out in 2005..JS
