Finally got a POG 2 (used, on Ebay). Very cool effect box - there's nothing else like it.

These presets were developed with my Desert Rose guitar tuned to D6/G, a compromise tuning that is lower than E9th but higher than C6th. I ran the guitar through a passive Goodrich volume pedal, into the POG2, and then into a clean tube amp (Mesa/Boogie Maverick). I also tested the organ presets with an H&K Rotosphere in the amp's effects loop to simulate a Leslie speaker.

The sliders on the POG2 have 9 line markings. I number them 1 through 9, with 5 being the center line. The Dry FX and Q buttons each have 4 settings, which I number 0 through 3. The Dry FX colors are: 1=red, 2=green, 3=amber.

Code:
1. Combo Organ
Voices:   3   1  3.5  5   1
Dry FX:   3
Q:        1
Effects:  2   6   7

2. Loud Combo Organ
Voices:  4.5  1  5.5 6.5  1
Dry FX:   3
Q:        1
Effects:  2   6   7

3. Church Organ
Voices:   4   1  5.5 4.5 5.5
Dry FX:   1
Q:        0
Effects: 4.5  6  8.5

4. Hot Steel
Voices:  7.5  1   1  3.5  2
Dry FX:   1
Q:        0
Effects:  5  5.5  4

5. 12 String Guitar
Voices:   5   1   4   1   1
Dry FX:   3
Q:        0
Effects:  0  8.5  2

6. Electric Bass
Voices:   3   1   6   1   1
Dry FX:   1
Q:        0
Effects:  1   4   1

7. Acoustic Bass
Voices:   1   1   9   1   1
Dry FX:   0
Q:        0
Effects: 3.5  5   1

8. unassigned
Voices:
Dry FX:
Q:
Effects:

I urge anyone working with one of these to document your presets carefully. Once you've designed a preset, there's no way to see what it is. You need to keep a cheat sheet in case you ever want to modify an existing preset.

b0b,
Thanks so much for posting that.
I am forever re-programming my POG trying to get the sound I'm looking for. I will certainly give your settings a try.

b0b:

Thanks for the info - I'd be interested if there's any way to EQ to sound like a fiddle - maybe it's the wrong pedal or hire a fiddler instead.

I've been thinking of getting one, they ARE pretty cool! Who wants to lug a B-3 and Leslie around? And learn to play it? Smile

b0b,

I also use the POG 2 and find it a hoot. I use the supplied Hammond B3 settings and it works well. I also have a Boss Rotosphere which really fattens it up. I have used a very small portion of this pedal's capabilities. Thanks so much for posting your settings. I will certainly try them out.

b0b, there is a way to see what a preset is if you do it one switch or slider at a time. Go to a user preset and move one of the sliders or pushbuttons. Notice that the bottom left light now blinks. Move the slider or click the pushbutton until the light stops blinking. This is the settings that was used in this preset. I believe you can only try this on one setting at a time then you have to circle back around to the preset again to grab the next setting. This is mentioned in the manual somewhere.

My pog settings and pages are here with the RotoVibe:

and here with the H&K Rotoshpere:

Yeah, I thought of that but after I moved the slider I couldn't get the light to stop blinking. Taking good notes is the best policy.

Your page was a great reference for helping me design my own presets, Greg. Thanks! Mr. Green

Greg, setting #3 without the RotoSphere is terrific. Thank you so much for making this availalbe.

b0b, once again the incredible value of this forum is demonstrated. I learn something new everytime I log on. My thanks.

Greg,
I notice on your settings you have the "dry" set on 8. When I set my dry on 8, I get quite a hum so I bring it down a ways. How's by you?

Erv no hum on 8 but I am thinking about trying the POG2 between the steel and volume pedal instead of after the volume pedal. Everything has an effect. What a mess of cords everywhere!

I think that's where I've got my POG located now.
I have the Rotosphere in the effects loop in my rack.

I like the feel of my Goodrich pot pedal with a wire straight from the guitar pickup. I do use a Freeloader now and then, though.

With the POG 2, I think that the Attack effect would change if it was before the volume pedal. For better or worse, I can't say - it would just be different.

I've changed the first organ setting, and added a new one (#8) to play Strawberry Fields Forever. Updated my names for the patches as experience grows. Here's what I have now:
Code:
1. Jazz Organ
Voices:   7   1  2.5  5   2.5
Dry FX:   3
Q:        1
Effects:  2   6   7

2. Ball Park Organ
Voices:  4.5  1  5.5 6.5  1
Dry FX:   3
Q:        1
Effects:  2   6   7

3. Church Organ
Voices:   4   1  5.5 4.5 5.5
Dry FX:   1
Q:        0
Effects: 4.5  6  8.5

4. Liquid Steel
Voices:  7.5  1   1  3.5  2
Dry FX:   1
Q:        0
Effects:  5  5.5  4

5. 12 String Guitar
Voices:   5   1   4   1   1
Dry FX:   3
Q:        0
Effects:  0  8.5  2

6. Electric Bass
Voices:   3   1   6   1   1
Dry FX:   1
Q:        0
Effects:  1   4   1

7. Acoustic Bass
Voices:   1   1   9   1   1
Dry FX:   0
Q:        0
Effects: 3.5  5   1

8. Strawberry Fields
Voices:  6.5  1  2.5  1   1
Dry FX:   1
Q:        1
Effects: 5.5  9   1

As I said before, document your patches carefully because they're easy to lose.

Best way to remember? From the ehx.com website:

Quote:
Totally programmable 8-preset memory with instant recall

Yes, it might take a bit to find each setting individually, like the Strymon TimeLine, but having the ability to save a preset sure helps.
Thanks for yer settings, b0b - did you start with the supplied suggestions?
