I just picked up an old Peavey LTD and it's got the 1502 BW in it and it sounds fine but the guy said it was an 8 ohm speaker. I don't think he knew what it was for sure but it seems like it could use a little more power so what is a good light weight speaker compatable with this amp? I need a 4 ohm 15". Also does anybody know the wattage on this 1502? I'm thinking it's a 150 watt speaker but does anybody know for sure?

The Eminence EPS-15, neodymium speaker would make a good replacement. It is 7 lbs. A 1502-4 was used in the Session 500 and early Nashville 400's. Not sure about the LTD. Newer Nashville 400's and Nashville 1000's used a 1501-4 speaker. The Eminence EPS-15 is designed to be a lighter weight direct replacement for the Peavey 1501-4 BW speaker (which was designed to be a higher power replacement for the JBL's that were used in the original Session 400).

I've owned a few Session 400's with the 1502-4 speaker and I think it came in most all of the steel amps from the 70's but wasn't the only one. They had the JBL's and the BW with the spider web on the back too. I've always like the Super Structure 1502-4 speaker for it's durability and to my ears the tone was brighter and more powerful. I think it was a 150 watt speaker but somebody here might tell us more. I'm currently looking at that speaker you recommended Jack and I found some baskets although they want about double the price they used to go for too. I know they never sold for what e-bay wants now so I'm investigating a replacement speaker.

I have a pair in my Justice cabs. They are as good as everyone says they are plus the fact they are light weight. Smile

I took out the Black Widow in my Justice Cabinet & went with the Eminence 15-c from Kevin Hatton. It weighs half as much & sounds great.

I use the EPS-15 in my old Evans Hybrid 200 and it sounds great. Close enough to my D-130 JBL that the weight(or rather lack of it) puts itover the top. I only wish it came in an 8-ohm version for some other uses.

I'd also suggest an Eminence EPS-15 for your LTD. I have one my LTD and it sounds great. Plus it makes the amp a light (for a combo amp) little sucker able to handle any venue. Win/win!
