8 years in the Air Force (1955 to 1963). Basic training was at Samson AFB, NY. Along with tours at Hahn AB Germany and Taipei Taiwan, I did two tours as a tech school instructor at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, Ms.

I started playing in bands in Biloxi in 1959 with others that were instructors stationed at Keesler. The band was "Al Lee and the Tunedusters". Our first gig (lasted for a year) was at a bar called "The Swamp Room" (later that bar was called "The Peppermint Lounge"). We played Friday and Saturday nights and made $20 ($5 each) for each night.
