"He" is a teenage girl who plays the flute and never actually seen a steel guitar, but only heard recordings of one, at which point she fell in love with the sound. I suggested she should attend a show, but she's not (yet) thinking about buying a guitar and learning to play. |

Mike, nothing that I know of in that area. There will be a steel show in Lakeleand, Fl in late Janauary. Heywood Henson puts on a show every year. I don't have any info on that. However, Lakeland is a long way from Boca Raton (Lakeland is between Tampa and Orlando on Interstate 4).
Our Florida Steel Guitar Club is a long way, too. We are about 65 miles North of Tampa and the same distance West of Orlando. |

Hi Jack. It's been a while since we last "talked". I hope all is well and you weren't affected by the hurricanes.
Being on the other side of the country, I'm not familiar at all with Florida's geography. How far is Lakeland from Boca Ratan?
I'm going to suggest that the girl attend the show with her family. |

Mike, yes it's been a while. I wasn't affected by any of the Hurricanes this year, thankfully.
Boca Raton is just north of Ft Lauderdale (and Ft Lauderdale is just north of Miami).
It's about 200 (driving) miles from Boca Raton to Lakeland. They have a 2 day show and it's at a hotel. The Jan 2005 show featured Doug Jernigan, Joe Wright, Russ and Laney Hicks and Roy Ayres.
Here's an e-mail address to get info.

Mike,
A few of us steel players are planning to get together several times for an informal Jam between January 5th and April 15th. Joe Smith from Charlotte, NC and my self will be spending the winter in Port St. Lucie, Florida at Outdoor Resorts. We have access to the large and beautiful Community Center there as needed. We are about 1 and a half hours drive north of Boca right off I-95. If she would like to attend, have her email me at chuckfly4u@aol.com. She would be very welcome to attend along with any other steel players or musicians. I will post the dates sometime after the first of the year. This is my first time to try to add a picture to a post. The Convention Center. Now if I can justlearn how to make the picture smaller.

Sam, Flame me if you want, but it's one of my pet peeves. Just like the Peavey "Session" series of amplifiers, it is not a "Sessions" 400 amp. |
