Should receive it in next week or so. If she sounds half as good as she looks... Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!

Great looking guitar!

I have a Tremblay too : http://www.tremblayguitars.com/archive/?serial=ls8m004

I really like it (though I never really tried other lap steels, they are uncommon around here). On my model, the pods are hard to manipulate while playing but that's the only negative point.

Everyone, take a look at the available lap steels : http://www.tremblayguitars.com/products/steel/

Nice guitar Steve!! I am sure it will sound as good as it looks! I have a Tremblay. Very under rated guitar for the $$$. (IMHO)
I didn't know that Martin was taking custom orders. I will definitely contact him when I have the extra bucks. Need something in an 8 sting console with maybe one of those Aiello pups.
I hope you enjoy your new steel!!

I agree, Howard! 8-strings with a Hipshot in the hands of Steve... should be considered a lethal weapon! I can't wait to hear what he comes up with. Congrats, Steve.

I got it a few days ago...looks and plays incredible! The Trilogy is a blast too. I'm having the bridge pickup (Truetone)rewound, as it was a little hot for my taste. It read at just under 16k...I'm thinking around 9-10k might get me a little more sweetness. Does that sound right to you guys?

Gorgeous guitar, Steve -- Looking forward to hearing what you can do with it (gonna be great, I know).

16K is really hot, so I'm sure you got a ton of mids and compression. 9-10K should give you a more open sound by comparison, but will still let you hammer the amp when needed.

In general, can you give us an idea of this guitar's voice?

I have a 8-string Trilogy I'm putting on a 10-string project - the last two strings bypass the Trilogy, like what Hugh Manson does on the steels he makes for John Paul Jones.

However, the Trilogy has really wide spacing of it's own - more like 7/16" than 3/8". When you blow it out to ten strings (keeping the spacing even) it comes out to 3 3/4" for the ten, which is a lot of real estate to cover for octaves and such. So I'm now trying to figure out some sort of "comb" to re-space the strings (like a nut behind a zero fret); I may even end up with the Trilogy on the left side and the tuners on the right. Bridge too wide - tuners too narrow - YAAK. I'm lucky the MSA Superslide is here to console me while I mutter & glare at the Trilogy....

I have a six-string Triogy that mounted up fine behind a Schaller top-loading bridge like these:
http://www.warmoth.com/Schaller-475-Flat-C712.aspx
I have that Trilogy on threaded inserts so I can take it or leave it. It's just the spacing X 9 (for 10 strings) goes way wide.
