Ron Elliott. I think Ron was there about 3 years and then went with Jack Green. Ron was the steel player on Jack Green & Jeannie Seely's great 1973 duet LP: "Two for the Show" (Decca DL-75392)
If you see it buy it. Here are some cuts from it:
“We Know an Ending”

“It Just Doesn't Seem To Matter”

“You and Me Against the World”

Here's a few steel players I know have worked for Stonewall:
Lloyd Green - Hal Rugg - Ron Elliot - Doug Jernigan - Lynn Owlsey - Darrel Hornberger - Cal Sharp - Harold Fogle - Jay Shupe - Gene O'Neil

Jack & Jeannie had the best blend of voices in the business in those days.I met Jack at Bill Testers 1440 Club in Santa Clara CA.back in the mid 60's,great guy & a super singer.
Sonny DeJersy was still alive back then, great steeler too.

Thanks for your posts.
Looks like Gene O'Neal to me but it doesn't sound like his tone. My $.02 worth. |

Add the late Big John Bechtol to the list. He preceded me on the gig. I wrote a little piece about Stonewall at Steel Guitar Insanity. _________________ C#

Rick Price was with Stonewall for a period of time, as I recall. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

You can add Bobby C Rhodes to that list. He was one of the first steelers to work with Stonewall back in his break-in years. Rhodes also work behind Wanda Jackson for a a couple of her tours.
I got this from Bobby C Rhodes', son, Kyle Rhodes. |

It was kind of a standing joke back then, working with 'Wall, because almost every picker who came through Nashville did, briefly, and usually found a termination notice on his bunk eventually. But, as Richard said, we shure (get it?) had a lot of fun, because there was always another gig and more jam sessions on Broadway to go to. And more... well, you get my drift. _________________ C#

I remember seeing a red haired and bearded steel player who played for Stonewall, I think in the late 70s. Had a nice full tone on a Sho Bud D10. I can't recall his name. |

Dan - That's got to be Wayne Kincaid who was a member of Stonewall's Minuteman band and was also a fixture in the house band at Gabe's for many years. He also worked for Jack Green and I'm sure many other artists. |

Cal, your post reminds of a couple of stories that Kyle Rhodes told me about his father in his tour days with a few of the tipsy stars. One story he told was of bringing a very waxed out big name to their home for the night. When the guy woke in the morning, he had no idea where he was or what city they were in. Bobby C Rhodes' wife was a staunch Southern Methodist and would not allow drinking in her home, so consequently, this super country star was out of their home within the hour, along with her husband as long as he worked for this guy.
Those were the days. |

Of course we all know that the "Minitmen" are probably different than the "Minutemen," who were patriots during the American Revolution. So it couldn't be that 'Wall thought the "Minutemen" were part of the American Civil War when he took his namesake from the great Confederate general, could it?
... or did he get his wars mixed up and the spelling as well.
If I were named Stonewall Jackson, I'd call my band "The First Brigade," appropriately since Jackson's first command in the Civil War was the VA 1st Brigade.
Of course, one of 'Wall's biggest hits was "Waterloo," but that's another war entirely.
Sorry for the interruption, go back to what y'all were doing. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Yeah, Herb, I often wondered about that, too. But then I went with Tater, and on his bus it said Little Jimmy Dickens and The Country Boy's. _________________ C#

Yeah, everybody knows that when you pluralize a noun ending in "y", you change the "y" to "ies", as in Babies, Mommies, Daddies, Toies, Boies, etc and sundries... _________________ www.JimCohen.com
