I just bought this single 12 Excel and cannot find any info on it. I'm not sure how old it is or if it was a U-12. It is currently set up with extended E9 with 3 pedals and 4 knees. It has a 0001 serial number. I'm a non-pedaler so I'm clueless on this guitar. Will this guitar work to learn on or should I try to get something different?

When I lived in Spokane in the early 80's they had alot of Excel steels with that logo at Hansen Music.
This one may have been from there.
It looks to be an Ext E9 3x4, so unless it is having a malfunction, it will probably work for you to get started on.
I would clean it up if needed and put a set of strings on it and try to get all the raises/lowers dialed in. |

As long as it's working properly, it will be fine for you to learn on. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

And in addition to being a good instrument to "learn on" it'll be a fine instrument to add pedals and lever(s) if needed to "gig" on. This guitar is a keeper and a pro instrument if it's one made by Mitsuo............JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

But I'll give you a hundred bucks for it anyway.
Just kidding, Dr. Fujii builds fine guitars. Forumite Tom Quinn took us out to his factory to meet him and play him steels. Somewhere on an old floppy disk I have some photos.
