Anything I haven't heard before is "new music", to me, anyway! |

Yes...thanks Lee. I thought the statement: "Everything is a Remix" was pretty interesting. I guess the word "remix" was pretty much confined to recording studios prior to the the age of digital recording. Does anyone remember studios putting out 12" vinyl singles called "The Dance Mix"? You know...a popular tune remixed to play in a Disco club.
When the CD format was young, I remember one of the selling points was: " The Digitally Remastered Version". It didn't take too long after that (as the more advanced hardware and software became available to the public) the word "Remix" became more of an everyday term.
For the last couple of decades folks can take old music (samples and loops), apply a little digital magic, maybe add a vocal, and voila...new music. But is that really new music or new/old music? Fortunately (IMO)there is new music out there that is not a literal "remix". Thought provoking article. _________________ Emmons Push Pull, BMI, Session 400, Home of the Slimcaster Tele. |
