I recently modified my Ernie Ball VP Jr. to use a Dunlop 470K Hot Potz. After installing it, it immediately developed a scratchness. Pretty mad as I just spent $23 on the pot, and drilled out the pedal to accept it.

Been living with it several weeks now, so today it hits me that maybe it is static electricity and not a "bad" pot. So I did what I do with guitar pick guards that scratch as you move your fingers across them, and I wiped the inside of the pedal, pot and string with a dryer sheet. The noise is gone, and the pedal is dead quiet for the full range. Pretty amazing difference.

So before you replace that expensive pot, at least give the sheet a try. I even use the cheap Target brand. It works magic on pick guards as well.

Same deal here Howard, new pot right out of the package. Done the same deal as the old one, so I figured that my laminate flooring was affecting my pedal and it was. Got a piece of electrician matting and cut out a 6x12 inch and put under my pedal and problem solved. It also stopped the pedal from wandering. Cool
