Does anyone use one of these as a practice amp and if so, likes and dislikes. Am looking for a Vox AD30VT,but will not buy anything off E-Bay, been burnt a couple times and will not go there again. What about the Fender Mustang II? Thanks for your help!! Will be used for Lap Steel.

I have two of them. one I converted over to a 12" speaker with a new cabinet ..
I love these amps for lap steel or guitar .. also for low volume pedal steel guitar rehearsals or shows .. the modeling is terrific and can pinch hit for any amp out there. I usually play through a NV 400 or a Vibrasonic .. i also use a mesa maveric for Steel and guitar small venue .. get one they go for about 120$ used.

Scott, in case that wasn't a typo, the XD is very different from the X2, they changed the DSP of the XD to the Mustang version for the X2, and there's a large camp that doesn't like the newer modeling sounds. However, being able to reset the sounds on the X2 via the software gives it a leg up and may provide improvements on the presets, which the XD cannot.
I have an XD with a larger Newell cab and an Eminence 12" similar to your's and may get an X2 modded the same just out of curiousity and see if it can best the XD, which will be hard to do.

I have an X2 stack that I really like for guitar. I think that it really nails the Fender sound much better than the Cube series. The other day I pluged my steel into it and it was OK but not great. Then I remembered that with a computer you could change everything. I got to tell you it wasn't bad at home levels. I was able to go in and take the twin model and lower the mids change the speakers and adjust the delay and reverb. I bet for recording it would be quite good. Anyway I've had a lot of different amps over the years and this one is one of the most fun to play with.

I got an X2 after getting a Champion 600 and I had to find the tone but I got it and now I'm afraid to change it for another instrument. I got the head and I'm using a Line6 cab which is as big as a twin but only has 1 12" with an open back. I have 2 cabs and the other one now has a Nashville 112 speaker and I set that up to use the champion 600. Both sound good to me but the X2 is much louder.
