Great read - thanks, bob - we'd never see something like this in the "Chicago Tribune" or the "Sun-Times." |

I'll say it again. Mike Daly is a GREAT innovative steel player. I've been watching him since his days on Billy Blocks Western Beat. I'm proud to know him as a friend. I hope he plays some steel shows some day to show how creative his playing is. Hank Williams Jr.'s steel player among others. |

Great interview. Wonderful player! I only got to meet Mike a few times back in the Eighties, as we were both working constantly. Seems the only time we'd be in a club together was if there was a Benefit or something. I always enjoyed listening to him play! Back then, the Cleveland/Akron scene was thriving, with quite a few clubs having music almost every night. Ain't like that now. Sheesh! The Touch of Gold is now a strip joint!

Thanks Robert for the posting. Peter Cooper is very respected as a music critic in Nashville and it was a surprize and an honor to be the subject of one of his pieces. And to Kevin and John, thanks for the kind words... |

I got the CD and I really enjoyed it. Coming from a younger generation I really like to see the creativity and see just how broad the steel can be. Great Job Mike. |

Thanks Mike...Without a guitar player to lean on in this recording, the room was there for the steel to not only play leads but also develope rhythms and textures inside the rhythm track to support the melody. Happy that you are enjoying the music.... |

If you are "old-school", and want a CD vs. digital downloads, best price I think is Bobbe Seymour, per his latest email notes (same price as the download).
While I was more of a country-rock fan as a teen in the 70's, I listened to a lot of these tunes as well. Chicago was a very innovative and influential band that seems almost forgotten now, so great to hear a cover of one of their songs. Being a Southerner who came of age during that time, we always had Johnny Winter and Allman Brothers jamming on the 8-track on road-trips.
Clssic rock and steel guitar: great stuff! _________________ Bringing steel guitar to the bukid of Negros Oriental! |

Douglas...Thanks for sharing that info. Bobbe has plenty in stock as of Monday and the article in his newsletter has generated interest for the album. Seeing you play harp as well, I hope you enjoyed blues harmonica player and forum member Ricky Chancey's contributions to the album... |
