I just got home from an very enjoyable show. Tonight was scheduled to be Doug Berwin, an Allen Jackson tribute artist. As things turned out a quick change was in order. Doug Berwin was in the Hospital in the
Carolinas and the band found out at 5PM last night, his replacement was a George Strait tribute artist from Branson, MO. Now the band had to come up with all the music for him to do a 1 1/2 show.
At 7:30 PM the lights came on and Jim opened up with a hot version of San Antiano Rose. Everything was set on Kill, by that I mean that it was like "OK guys, we have a show to do". Larry ( can't remember his last name) did a fine job.
I waited until after the show and went up to talk to Jim and some of the band. He said it was kind of a scramble to get ready with the change. I told him if they had not announced it, as far as the show itself no one would have know the difference.
They did a super job and don't have to back up for anyone. All the musicians in the band are top drawer, they could make me sound good and I can't sing. It was a great evening and best of all it was free. It was at Nelsonville, Ohio Prade of the Hills and all the entertainment is done from sponsorship.
Jim said tomorrow night they will be in Morgantown, West Virginia and Saturday night they will be at the Wheeling Jamboree in Moundsville, West Virginia. They are listed on the Jamboree web site. If you want to see some great entertainment and are in the area I am sure you won't be disappointed in their show. |
