This arrangement is played in the straight E Major
6 string tuning High to Low: E--B--G#--E--B--E
Not everybody is having a good summer. Extreme heat
is playing havoc with many to whom I wish the very best.
Let us know how your summer is going. It would be nice/interesting to hear firsthand from anyone who wishs to share a summertime story whether good or bad.

Roy, one of the all time best songs ever from Porgy and Bess. I always call out this song at any guitar jam and everyone always has a great time inprovising over the changes. It is in the mid 90's in southeastern Pennsylvania today and I will be yearning for "Summertime" this coming February. Thanks for sharing your arrangement of a timeless song. |

Yes and it been a crazy year for gardening... No spring time to speak of ... and then 90 deg weather.
here in Wyoming.
Roy .. your sound is awesome.... Those low notes really growl. Great job playing the song naturally...Lee |

HELLO ROY,
I Really Enjoyed Your Arrangement Of Summertime.
What Are The String Gauges On Your 6 String Tuning?
What Would Be The Notes & String Gauges On An 8 String E-Major Tuning?
The Temperature in Everett, Wa. Today Is 92.5, But Will Be Down To The Mid 70s In A Few Days.

Thanks to all for the comments!
Roger, my strings are as follows:
E-014..B--017..G#--027--E--30..B--36--E--56
If I were to extend that to an 8 string tuning
I would probably add:
F#..028 for string 4
E--string 5
D...034 for string 6
Moving the B to string 7 and low E to the 8th position. End result is E9th.
Hope that's got it and all the best.
