I was at an oldies concert Saturday night and saw the remaining member perform from the Grass Roots. I was curious about them and googled the band. To my surprise, I found Rick Alexander listed as a lead guitarist with them after 1971. WOW!!! What a talented guy he was. Maybe other members know this fact, but I had to share.

Founding member Dave Stensen lives here in Portland now. It is interesting that the band that achieved the most success as "The Grass Roots" was actually the third entirely different act to carry the name, created by the label to capitalize on the money spent promoting the earlier groups Neutral

This is a very interesting topic, as the original drummer, Joel Larson and I were class mates at South San Francisco High, class of '66. We were both involved in the music scene around the SF Bay Area at the time. I was going through some of my vinal records the other day and discoverd an album titled "The Grass Roots" with Joel listed among the members. I had forgotten I had it! Whew...brings back so many fond memories Very Happy
