I just got back home late last night, and I want to tell you that I heard some outstanding steel guitar work at the festival. Geoff Queen with Bruce Robinson and Kelly Willis - master of style and touch! Dave Biller was his usual bad a$$ self playing behind Amber Digby, on a guitar that he was not used to. Some outstanding non pedal work by Matt Thomas with 2 Tons of Steel. And a great job as well by French steeler Woody Wood with Eric Sitbon and The Ghost Band. There was a lady steel player with the Croatian band Crooks and Straights. I did not get her name, but she did a great job as well. What a great experience!

Jake, buddy, thank you so much for letting me bang around on your beautiful axe. That Mullen was SO nice! I'm a new fan. I was really stressed about the whole situation but it worked out way better than I could have hoped, all thanks to you, my friend. I apologize for missing the bus and not getting to catch your set but I sure hope to hear you pick soon and do some more hangin' with ya. your pal, dB |

It was my pleasure, Dave. Apparently though, my discovery wasn't in "record" mode during your set, so I can't retrieve any of your licks! Dang it! Give me a call sometime. I'd love to see y'all play again, or just sit down and swap licks. |
