Btw, isn't there a video somewhere with Lloyd Green on the same song, where he throws up his arms, because he somehow got lost? (No disrespect to him meant)

I will be looking for it too. I remember the comments that went in the direction... this can happen to the best of us. But it could also have been a broken string, who knows? I would get lost in no time if I attempted to play it

I didn't know there was an archived video of that, matter of fact I hope it has been taken down if there was one. No need to belabor the issue.
I saw the program when it aired on TV. I think it was live. I don't remember what happened that caused him to stop, I just remember that it was smokin' 'grasser style.
I don't recall him demonstrating any frustration either.
Whatever it was, I'm sure he felt it better to stop than to go outside his comfort zone. No one has more class than Mr. Lloyd Green. |

I saw that program when Lloyd did that. It was on the Grand Old Opry live or Nashville Now on TNN, I can't remember which....JH in Va.

I remember a few years ago someone posted that video here on the forum. Lloyd did break a string in the middle of his solo! And even though he did, he still held it together and finished with a little single string run better than any of us could. He just smiled and kept going. When he finished I think he did throw his arms up, kinda saying "oh well". I think Ricky said a little something to tease him a little before he came back in with the vocals.
I searched for the video too. Apparently it has been taken down. Why? What's the big deal? We're all human. Things like that happen... |

Things like that happen even to our idols, so I guess they are human after all. JayDee once played "Misty" with Ray Stevens on a big televised awards show and popped a third string just as he started the famous solo.
More on topic, Terry Crisp is, in my opinion, one of the very best players, with great tone, technique and content, and gets far less recognition than he deserves. |

No complaints here. You're free to comment about events. It happened. I'm sure Lloyd is past it. I was just thinking about when it happens to me. Don't want to revisit those things.
Back to Terry, yes he is a monster player and can play lightning fast. I think he played with Reba too didn't he? |

| I caught Terry at a casino a few years back appearing with Joe Nichols (this was early in Joe's career before he was typically corrupted by the powers to be in Nashville, "Tequilla Makes Her Clothes Fall Off", PLEASE!). Along with his own material, Joe performed some Western Swing tunes as well as a few Merle Haggard classics. Terry's playing was nothing short of outstanding, very enjoyable show. |

I have Terry's CD Paid in Full. It's a great example of the scope of his playing and thinking. A few hard core country instrumentals with mostly uptown, funky, jazzy tunes and a few that I would describe as fusion, complete with an amazing group of musicians.
Terrific jazzy piano, sax, guitars etc. Mix of styles. Stellar performance.
Of particular interest to me is the cut of Bird, For Days. Nice trading and chasing with the piano and bass.
