I know that somebody makes a white Sho-Bud fretboard but is there anybody out here that makes them for different guitars? I think that should be an option on any guitar simply because they look very attractive and can be seen a lot better in dark venues. I seen where Bill Poe is using some colored tape on a couple of frets of his old Emmons as he can't see them. I've been tempted to on the Derby but I don't want it to have a "homemade" look about it. I remember the lighted fretboards that George Morgan used to make and they worked fine up to the 15th fret or so but he's long gone now and I'm looking for something to help me see in these dark places. |

Frank you might want to check one of these out. You can find them at Guitar Center and some Book Stores. I'm sure a lighted Fretboard would be better tho.I have been useing one of these clipon light for a few years. Good luck in find one or the other. _________________ 78 Emmons PP,Great tone.82 Emmons SKH #56 |

Or use Danny Gatton's old trick. Go to the craft store and buy a small bag of assorted colored rhinestones. They have a flat back, and are adhesive. Stick them on the front edge of your fingerboard. Danny used them to replace the side dots on his Tele necks. He said they " They'll pick up the light of a candle on the far side of the Potomac!" They're very small, so they wouldn't be obtrusive. I have a Shobud with a white fingerboard. Looks beautiful, but in bright light? The glare from them can be intense! Another thing; colored fret markings can virtually disappear under colored stage lights! White fretboard, red heart on the 3rd fret? Red spots come on,,,, "Hey! Where'd that fret marker go?" I like the white mathematical markers and fretlines on my Kline. Never a problem |

Agreed John! White is fine as it's all the other colors that disappear in certain kinds of light. |

I'm pretty sure I have seen some White fretboards on some of Gary Rittenberry's guitars. _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 3 & 5 The Eagle

How about a real close up of that fretboard to show the markers in detail! If it were just a plain fretboard I might be tempted to use it but I don't want a distinctive Sho-Bud fretboard on a Carter guitar! |

I slapped a couple on one of my gtrs to see if I liked them, and they looked really cool. But then I did a couple gigs that had a bunch of overhead stage lights, and the strings would cast shadows against the white background. And, every time the lights changed, the shadows changed with them. It was pretty disorienting at times.
So, it was back to the black for me. |
