Is there a big problem using a 4 ohm power head with 8 ohm spkers.I'm looking to buy an MB 200/4ohm output bass head but my spkr. cab. has 8ohm 100 watt (ea) spkrs in it,advice please from all you electronic gurus.

The rated power will be cut down to max 140 watts at 8 ohms (their published spec's) but it won't harm it.

Thanks Jack.I just chkd' the RMS rating of those spkrs. 80 watts RMS 150 peak.They're Yamaha JA 2515's.That was my old gitar amp but the pwoer supply went belly up,saved the cab & want to use it for a new Tele I'm gonging to get.

Even at the reduced output, the amp is capable of more than the speakers.
I don't recall if you're a C6 guy or just E9th.
If you stick to E9, I doubt you'll have problems, since most power is at the bottom end.
But obviously, don't push it much

If I understood right, you have two 8 ohm speakers in your cab?
Wire them parallel and you get a total load of 4 ohms.

Thanks Olli,I do have them parallel so I guess they'll match up pretty good if that is the case.

I love happy endings. My first clue was the use of the term "speakers"...... but used with the singular noun "cabinet"
