I am not aware of any 8 string specific pickups for resonator guitar.
Fishman has told me one is in the works.

Has anybody tried strapping one of those acoustic guitar under saddle piezo pickups to the underside of the spider.

I'm planning to install the Basik-Reso pickup by Schertler on my 8 string Goldtone. |

Maybe the best is simply an SM-57 |

Erv, That Basik resonator pickup costs more than I paid for my guitar. I'm not wealthy. But thanks anyway, Don |

Don,
It'll make a cheap guitar sound good. |

I agree. That's what I use in real life. But in the world of my dreams there is a very cheap pickup that lasts a lifetime and sounds like you wouldn't believe. _________________ Amor vincit omnia |

Carroll Benoit, in his set up and tips seminars at the Dallas show has mentioned several times a clip on horn (sax, trumpet etc) microphone,,,about a hundred bucks. Sounds like it would work. |

To me the clip on pickup is a good idea (gold tone make a good one) if you play stand up with a strap and you want to move but the advantage of a SM57 is that you can change the tone and volume by moving around it. The best thing is when your drummer stop playing drum and play banjo! |
