I know this is an old topic. Is Dave still active as a mechanic? Could someone send me contact info? I am in Chicago.
Thanks,
Robert |

I believe Dave is still doing work.
Dave is the guy I take all of my push-pulls to. I buy 'em wherever I can and find them in all kinds of condition ranging from basket-cases to under-the-bed. Then off to Dave they go for his attention and impeccable work. Every one. I dunno, so far, he's done maybe 8-10 steels of mine so far?
I make a 400 mile round trip each time. It's a day-long trip.
He has his own machine shop, is a master machinist, BUILDS his own steels (wow) and works on all brands, models and types of steel guitar. I do have an older Zum D10 I'll be taking to him soon along with an older Emmons D12. Of course, it helps that he is a player, too.
The last push-pull he did for me was, get this, a "white tidewater" student model I had picked up. I had him rebuild it and add a couple of knee levers. I'm of the heretical belief that student models are the best sounding push-pulls. That was certainly reinforced after I got that steel back from Dave. |

Thanks, Eric. Do you have contact info for Dave? You can PM me if you dont want to post publicly.
I also have an Emmon's student (gold lacquer) and LOVE the way it sounds. I am very excited that it's on it's way to Mike C in Nashville, but it would be great to have someone local to Chicago.
Thanks, and have a great 4th! |

You won't regret having Dave work on any steel, his knowledge and skill is second to none and a great player too. I have been in guitar manufacturing and repair work about 40 years, but he is on a level all his own. |

Dave is highly respected and deservedly so.
He just worked on my 70's p/p and I am one happy camper...
He is a superb person to work with. _________________ In a time of drastic change it is the learners who inherit the future. The learned usually find themselves equipped to live in a world that no longer exists.
