George Harrison's "Marwa Blues" was the instrumental B-side to "Any Road" which was nominated for Best Male Vocal but lost out. Marwa Blues however won in its category for Best Pop Instrumental Performance at the 2004 Grammy Awards. Both featured in his "Brainwashed" album. I started out with the intent of doing a cover of "Marwa Blues" on steel guitar but I ended up with some Harrison-inspired modifications and thereby the alternative name "Sunset on the Kushiara".

The chord sequences are the same, key of A. The steel guitar used was the Steelocaster A6 tuning, keyboard backing by David Das. All other tracks by me. Guitars: Martin custom acoustic and a Stratocaster 2005 for the rhythm.

The percussive melody instrument timbre in the background is that of the Santoor native to the north of India, a hammered dulcimer which is struck with light wooden mallets.

The Kushiara is a river in North East India close to where my father was born.

Grateful for the appreciation, Joachim, glad you liked the version.

I have added an alternate name to this tune, "Sunset Over The Kushiara", as it is not really a cover in the sense of the lead or tempo, although the inspiration of the recording was George Harrison.

Here is a Youtube version of the original "Marwa Blues".

Shine on, George!

Thanks Kay, I didn't read the aditional information to your first post. But it's clear now. "Marwa Blues" was always one of the best tracks of the album for me.
