I am not at all sure that I can justify owning this 8 string beauty, still struggling with my 6 string, but hoping this will just give me even more incentive to keep on keeping on with the practice and more practice. Haven't actually gotten it, supposed to be in my hands Friday and I'll report on how it sounds, but knowing Bob Allen's work from owning two other Melberts I am sure that it will sound and play every bit as good as it looks!!

Looks like a real beauty Thomas, you can't beat Bob's work. 8 strings though, 6 are confusing enough as far as Im concerned!

Well I finally got my hands on the Cypress Princess and she sounds even better than she looks. In checking on previous 8 string C6th postings went with FACEGACE low to high so that the C6th tuning I am used to is on top all in a row, but with the strings closer together picking a few wrong strings is easy to do and have to admit that it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks. BUT figure I can figure it out eventually. Sound wise though LOVE the George L 10-1 and I had a brass nut installed and that adds to the sound as well I am sure. All in all one Happy Camper!!
