No disrespect to Jim Loessberg. I know he's a great player and I hear the super licks he's playing on the Tru-Country show. This is directed to the sound men..... why does the steel guitar sound so thin and hollow sounding? The rest of the band sounds great, and Jim is playing all the right stuff, but it doesn't do him justice.

Am I the only one who noticed this? If you noticed it too, please mention something here and maybe someone will work to improve this. It's the best country show on TV. Johnny Bush last night..... WOW.

Rick, I agree. Almost sounds like an Alumitone pickup directly into a recording console. Doesn't sound push pull at all. I noticed the same thing.

I noticed it too Rick....it seems like the camera operator can't ever find the steel player during his solo. Sad
Jim is indeed a great player.

Today/tonight's show was outstanding: all Jim Loessberg steel, backing the vocals of Bobby Flores (2 songs), Jake Hooker (3 songs, two he wrote), Tommy Hooker, then Anthony Wilson. Honkytonk/dancehall music deluxe. On again Sat at 12:30pm Central.

Last week kicked off with three songs by Jody Nix, with Junior Knight doing the honors on steel.

The sound mix could certainly be better, but good regardless.

I agree. I just home from my Friday night gig and watched the show. Great stuff. It's the best country music show on TV. Bobby Flores is the best honky tonk country fiddler I've ever heard.... tone, taste, not overplaying, and backing a singer. He's also a great singer. The steel sound might have been a little better too. Jim played some great stuff. He's a monster player.

I envy these guys. What a pleasure it would be to play in a band where everyone knows how to play (and wants to play) this kind of music. Also, thanks to a group of dancers that are content without "Boot Scooting Boogie", "The Twist", etc...

Thanks to Tru-Country!

Notice when the steel or lead guitar are taking a ride the overhead cam is showing the tops of cowboy hats of the dancers, but when the fiddles are playing the cam is right on. Are they trying to make the point [you can't play in Texas without a fiddle in the band] YOU BETCHA DYK?BC.

My usual routine. Home from gig and watch Tru-Country that I'd recorded. Ms. Leslie sang a ballad that should get the attention of any country music fan. Ricky Davis played some good stuff. Bobby Flores, Maiden's Prayer with three fiddles... the best.

Good to see Bama out of hiding. Charlie, I agree about the camera shots. Wouldn't it be great if country music shows would be covered like football games..... "let have an instant replay of that Dale Potter lick that Bobby played on that last bar", etc...

Don't want to complain too much. Tru-Country is still the best country music show on TV. Marty Stuart is good too, a little more rock-a-billy for my liking, but still great. Gary is always good, Connie, etc... See Hank Singer there often too. A special treat tonight.... LeAnn Womack with Randy Beavers. They did "You're Still On My Mind" as good as you'll ever hear.

It's weird. Several country music channels on TV, but to hear any real country, you have to go to a farming channel. Kind of like you go to the grocery store and buy lemonade and it has artificial lemon flavor, but you buy furniture polish and it has real lemon juice. Laughing

Hi Charles,

The only thing I can figure is that I'm too ugly for TV! (I have a great face for radio, however.)

Thanks to everyone for watching.

Best,

Jim

I noticed that Jr's tone was identical to Jim's on today's show . He doesn't sound like that at a steel show . I have no idea what's going on .

I heard Ricky Davis, on one show. His sound was not on it all. I have heard him before, and the sound was just as whiny as ya'll have described. I hope it what ya'll have said it was, the studio set up.
