NEVER give up! Last week I played my first paying gig in nearly a decade. What fun! Such FUN!
I was a featured guest on steel guitar at the Historic Old GOBLE TAVERN on Highway 30 about 45 minutes northwest of Portland, OR.
Some really nice musician folks....Storm Johnston, Shannon and Josh, the regular house band, were kind enough to extend a special invitation to this olde picker to sit-in for the evening and was it fun. A real pleasure to make music with folks that know what they're playing and how to do it properly. My sincere thanks to each of them.
Hope to see some of you local steel players up at GOBLE on Sunday, June 24th, between the hours of 4-8 Pm. They host an OPEN JAM and everbody's WELCOME! |

|
|
Hey Mickey! Nope, not a Bonanza but rather a Cessna 310-B. After flying my Cessna-180 for eleven years with it's light touch and easy response, this 310-B was the most logical step-up I could make. I really loved the way it flew and handled and it was F-A-S-T!
I sure miss those two airplanes but you know, my first, a 1947 Stinson Voyager with 150 hp/small tail was also very dear to my heart. |

Hey Ray
sounds like you had some fun and also got paid - life can be good .
as long as there’s a little drift here - Them old Stinsons where grate - with the wing slots you could pull it back in your lap and get a 750 Ft/minute sink with no sign of a stall - I didn’t care much for the old Frankinstine 150 . |

No, Ray, it was 4th of July in about 2004 or 2005 I think, and you were the only musician on stage, that I remember! |

Hey Ray regarding the planes, sounds like you played some paying gigs along the way.
I'm retired but I've discovered these paying gigs by the lakes every week.
I'm thinking about getting a condo and go to and from the gigs by boat in the summer and just work part time in the winter at Wal-Mart (you know the guy that puts the little stickers on returns and little kids) and the rest of my winter time sit by the fireplace drinking my New Mexico Pinon Coffee and study Chinese using Rosetta Stone. |
