I can't find these on the StewartMac site
and the All Parts site does not work for me.
I really need them yesterday!
Thanks for any help.

What tuner knobs are you looking for Roy? I frequently buy them from StewMac. [This message was edited by Jim Palenscar on 30 October 2005 at 07:30 AM.] |

I learned quickly the ivoroid ones had to be glued, not pressed. I enlarged the hole slowly with an electric drill but a dremel would be better. When it fit snugly on the shaft, I epoxied it and left it be for 24 hours. I'm sure there are other methods but this worked for me. |

I used the "press on" method from frets.com
which Rick has linked above.
The buttons installed were the ivoroid models from Stew-Mac and I put them on an old Kay lap steel.
That was two years ago and they are still fine.

Roy, I have a bunch of used plastic button Kluson keys. Could you use those?

I bought some white buttons from Scotty's several years ago, for an 8-string Supro. I installed these with the old fashioned heat method, where you remove the tuners from the guitar, clean off what remains of the old buttons, heat the shaft with a candle flame, and press on the new buttons -- which soften inside and bond to the shaft. Worked out nicely for about $1 per button, as I recall. |

I don't know if this will help, but it won't hurt to take a look.

I sell tuner button sets for mandolins. Let me know if you don't find what you need.
