I have a mullin pickup and need some advice from someone who knows pickups on whether to replace the gfi 11 with the mullin.

The GFI pickup cavity is 45mm x 110mm and the body (bottom of cavity is 25mm from the strings (sorry about the metrics - well not really - 25.4mm = 1 inch).
Some older models may vary and of course the 12 stringers definitely do.
The corners of the cavity (in the alloy) are radiused but your picture of the pickup shows that it is too.
You may have to take a slight bit off the pickups base dimensions - I think you do for a Truetone but they are 'fitable' if that is a word. _________________ Priebs GFI ('09)Short-Uni10. GFI ('96)Short-Uni SD11. ('86)JEM U12

Tom
I think the operative word here is "better".
I understand that Mullen (I think it's en) make their own single coil pickups to 'suit' their guitars as they term it.
Generally single coil pickups are brighter and more 'scooped' (less mids) and some prefer that. They are more the classic sound (of older guitars). On the other hand humbuckers (as the GFI's are) tend to be more fulj sounding however makers design them to favour certain frequency ranges eg. tha GFI ll is supposed to be slightly more mellow while the GFI lll is sharp.
It really is a matter of choice and probably very few steelers would agree on what is "best". I have heard Mullens and they sound superb. Some people love the mellow humbuckers. How this pickup will sound in your guitar I don't know other than it would be OK - that's when the hands, touch, Technique, amplifier, speaker, delay or effects etc. etc. come in. Wow! it's easy isn't it. _________________ Priebs GFI ('09)Short-Uni10. GFI ('96)Short-Uni SD11. ('86)JEM U12
