hi i just bought an old carter D-10 and notice on my six string i have a tuning nut to tune the raise and a tuning nut to rasie the lower then i having a tuning nut that has the end colored red and its on the raise anove the nut to tune my six string G# to A
this is new to me and need some info on what iy is used for/
appreciate any help

It's called 'tuning the splits', and it's all in this Carter manual, section 4
