Long time Nashville sideman, Snuffy Smith, passed away Monday afternoon, 6-18-12. Snuffy played bass guitar for a multitude of artists from 1959 until he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure a few years ago. He was a member of the first rock-n-roll band in Nashville, "The Casuals" which ultimately became Brenda Lee's band. Snuffy was also a duo act with song writer Kent Westberry on the MGM record label managed by Jim Denny. They were a parity/competative act with the Everly Brothers. Masonic services will be held at the Phillip & Robinson Funeral Home on Gallatine Road on Wednesday 6-20-12 @ 7:00pm with funeral services to follow on Thursday 6-21-12 at 1:00pm.
