........offered here is a very good-excellent condition 1936-37 solid headstock, square neck, Regal made Dobro guitar w/original Dobro lyre decal, dark sunburst finish w/newer hard shell case.
This vintage Dobro has the full 9 hole maple soundwell, standard fan patterned coverplate, 2 screen holes, solid tailpiece and original stamped 8 lug cone and spider bridge. Bound body, top and back. New bone nut and maple bridge inserts were added by me in lieu of the old ones. This Dobro is distinctive in that it features the rare maple binding as opposed to the more common plastic-ivoroid type of the period. This model is described in the late 30's Regal catalouge as their Model #30.
All metal parts are in excellent to mint condidtion and show little to no playing wear. This Dobro comes with a dated 1937 letter to the original owner from her music teacher, moving her lesson date a few days. I love it when this type of authentication is found with an instrument Smile
I had planned on adding a Quarterman cone and new Dobro spider bridge until I set it up with the original parts. Needless to say, I'll leave it be.
If you love Uncle Josh, then this can be your "Cliff" Smile
$1700.00+shipping. No trades. Compare to others offered on Gruhn's site, etc; and you'll find that this is a real buy.
