The Florida Steel Guitar Club's June 2012 Meeting/Jam will be Wednesday, June 13th, CR470, Lake Panasoffkee, Fl. (our regular Meeting/Jam place).
Come early and support Catfish Johnny's Restaurant before the jam.
The FSGC Club holds monthly Meetings/Steel Guitar Jams the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
The Jam runs from 5:30 until 8:30...
Lake Panasoffkee is exit 321 on I75, approximately 60 miles west of Orlando and about the same distance north of Tampa.

As there appears there will not be a service for Lee Holloway, we will dedicate the June jam to Lee. |

Just got word, Bernie Waldon, the original club backup band bass player, has shingles.
He will be "out of action" for a while. |

Jack, Please relay to Bernie that Mildred sends her sympathy as a "shingles" survivor.

Ted, I'm looking forward to meeting you too.
If you need any additional directions, let me know.
There are two main ways to get to Lake Panasoffkee from Orlando. Either State Route 50 west to Interstate 75 and then North to Exit 321, and then west for 3 miles to Catfish Johnny's. Or, the Florida Tunpike to the Wildwood exit (the first northern exit on Interstate 75 at the end of the Turnpike) and then take State Route 44 west about 3 or 4 miles to Route 470, go south on Route 470 for about 6 miles and Catfish Johnny's Restaurant will be on the right side. |

We will have Cal Akers on lead guitar and Jerry Hodges on bass for the jam.
Our regular back up band crew is going to the Viewing for Roy Ayers, which is also Wednesday evening.
Blake Hawkins is also going and will represent the club at the Viewing. |

The June jam was small again this month with the Viewing for Roy Ayres the same night as the club jam and several out due to medical problems.
Ted Nesbitt, from Northern Ireland and the Isish Steel Guitar Association attended the jam. Ted and his wife are vacationing in Orlando.
Here is a picture of Ted at my guitar:
But we did have Jim Price, Bobby Schlegel and myself on steels, along with Ted Nesbitt playing my steel.
Cal Akers on Lead Guitar, Jerry Hodges on Bass and both Karl Congdon and George Basely on drums. Jerry Hodges and Catfish Johnny on vocals. Catfish Johnny is battling Shingles but that didn't stop him from the jam.
As noted in a separate forum post, it was decided last night to suspend the jams for July and August. The next club jam will be September 12, 2012. |
