Something new on steel guitar....
"Soli", which translates to "Alone" was one of Adriano Celentano's hits. He is a much admired Italian singer-songwriter , actor and film director best known in his native country and also in the rest of the world. Considered one of the pillars of the Italian pop scene.
Played on steel guitar: Charvel Jackson electro-acoustic (Open D tuning) and West Coast C6 through a Johnson J-Station and Fender Hotrod amp for the bluesy timbre. Guitars and keyboard accompaniments by me. Key of Gm/G.

On the Soundcloud, at one point I hear playing in Octives. Is an Octive Splitter being used or is it true Octives being played on the Neck. Maybe it's my old ears, but am I hearing a little fuzz tone or mid distortion in some of the passages ? Overall, nice sound and presentation. _________________ Sacramento Western Swing Society Hall of Fame, 1992 |

Hi Billy,
You are correct: I play true octaves on the acoustic steel on occasion.
For the middle section I play a an electric steel going through a Johnson J-Station with a "blues" setting (for distortion with a little chorus) which was then plugged to the Fender Hotrod amplifier. I had intended this to be a contrasting timbre to that of the acoustic steel that precedes and follows.
Grateful for the appreciation.
