For sale: D10 Marlen Custom with 8 pedals and 5 knees. Tuning is pretty much standard Emmon's tuning.
This is a modern mechanism guitar and super easy to set up any tuning you want. The 5th knee is a left up lever. I am the 2nd owner of this guitar - I bought it from the first owner who had Len Stadler custom build it for him.
The Guitar is in super shape. Nothing wrong with it at all. Plays smooth as butter - pedal action is super easy as are knee levers. Mechanics are modern (no pull release) - has 3 Raise and 2 lower pulls. Better wood, changer, rods, levers, etc. than you will find on a new guitar. Has George L Pickups - magnetic pole exposed - these are beefy wonderful pickups with a lot of punch. Great tone on this Guitar.
Only minor flaws are a tiny scratch to the front plate face about 1/4 inch and some light scuffing on the far left top of the pedal bar (will buff out easily if you want to make it as new). Does not have any major bar dings or any damage or cosmetic flaws.
I have a EX++ GFI Seat - also Goodrich Volume Pedal.
Both were bought about 10 years ago and only used at home - both like new.
I would love to make a complete package deal for someone if they are wanting a whole rig. Guitar, Seat, Volume pedal, and extras - 3 JBL Bars (standard, Large, Sitar Bar), 3 packs of strings (there may be a few singles missing - i Can check), extra pull tuners, laminated charts, etc.
Also have a Fender Twin late 70's 135 Watt - all working as should - non original speakers.
I can get everything listed to you packed correctly and shipped to your door in the lower US 48 for $2500 dollars - Guitar/Seat with contents/volume pedal/Twin amp
Will break up the set:
Guitar = $1800
Seat with bars and extras = $200 (Seat alone $175)
Volume Pedal = $150
Fender Twin = $500
**If bought separately shipping would be calculated on what you want.**
**I don't play anymore and am downsizing everything
I joined the Forum back in 2001. Have not been active for a while - Google search on Brad Burch and Steel Guitar Forum - you should see my posts going back quite a ways.**
Far, Far better quality guitar than a late model Shobud (which has pot metal parts that break). I sold my Red 1982 LDG Shobud and bought this Marlen - could not have made a better choice. Its only been out of my house a few times in the last 16 years I've owned it.

They were built with a total love for the instrument. The precision milled parts, the design, everything - If I kept playing in a band I would never need to upgrade. If this steel were custom built today I think 6 - 7K would be about right on price. Tone and sustain are fantastic - especially with the pickups that are in it - George L's - Bright and full of punch. |

Some interest brewing - you wont find a better guitar at this price point - Its a stunning beauty and plays like butter out of the box.
I could even throw in a Fender Twin 135 Watt amp for a little extra - but the shipping would be a BEAST. Great sounding amp - but heavy for sure. |

Somebody is going to get a great deal on a killer guitar! Good luck on the sale Brad. A month earlier and I'd own this instead of my ZUM. _________________ Rittenberry D10 Prestige, Peavey Nashville 112, Quilter Steelaire, Telonics VP And Sarno Black Box, Walker Steel Seat |

Some people have asked age - serial number. Len Stadler built this steel for an older player in the 80's. I bought it from him (I don't remember his name) in about 2003.
Serial number is scratched on the middle aluminum body bar on the undercarriage
D10 871891
There are also two small spots on the end plates underneath in front of each front leg that say:
WOOD
I've owned 2 Shobuds, rebuilt 2 ZB's to like new, and a single Push Pull Emmons - none were even close to this guitar in quality, playability, and tuning stability - hands down period.
Thanks for all the questions and interest. Feel free to PM me for a call if needed - happy to discuss anything you want to know. |

I've got nothing in this except for the fact that I have a Marlin S10 A/P 3X4 that I play more that any of my other steels and would not sell it for $1800. Solid as a rock, tone to the bone w/original PU. In my opinion one of the best changers ever designed!
D10 A/P Marlin for $1800... Crazy good deal! Of course I work on my own stuff. |
