Well guys, I guess it's time to let one of my almost mint Fender Vibrosonics go. This amp has been totally refurbed with the exception of the preamp tubes which are in great working and sounding condition. The chassis face plate is original but in overall nice condition.
Let's start out by stating that the Vibrosonic is the standard for the Fender "all tube" steel sound. This amp is no exception. It's had the best of everything put into it and it sounds great.
The first lesson to learn about tube amps is that you dont want to be the one that buys an amp that needs to be refurbed unless you are a tube guru like Ken Fox or someone of that caliber who can perform the work at a reduced price. Once these amps are reworked, they will last along time and thats where this one currently stands.
Here is the work that has been performed on this amp.
I started out by taking the cabinet to our forum cabinet guru, Rick Johnson. Rick does fantastic restoration work. He totally restored and recovered the cabinet and also installed a new baffleboard and grill cloth.
The next step was to bring the chassis up to speck. I was living in Nashville at the time and I took the chassis to Nashville Amp repair who specializes in tube amp work. They have a great reputation in the music industry.
The amp had new caps, plate resistors, new Wing C power tubes and a new reverb tank installed. Wing C power tubes are among the best quality tubes available today and they come with a higher price tag to prove it.
I'm sure by now that everyone viewing this can read between the lines to see that a person can get alot more into one of these amps than what he can sell it for. But when its done, no new circuit board reissue Fender amp is going to come near the performance of the "real deal ". This amp has seen very little use since the refurb work.
The actual description of the amp is that it's one of the 135 watt bi-linear models with original orange frame JBL speaker. It does come complete with a new Vibrato and Reverb foot switch.
Here are the pictures and you can judge for your self as to overall condition. I have two of these amps which I barely use and one needs to go.
I have been selling off a little of my lightly used equipment and now it's this amps turn to go,
Thanks

The amp is still available.
Mark: Thanks for the compliment on the amp. I wish I did get up your way but my work related travels are mainly in the FL and lower GA / AL area.
Thanks

Guys, Ray is one of the best! His integrity is second to none and you can rest assured that his equipment will far exceed his description in quality. Ray has had this amp for years and it's the holy grail of steel amps! He has moved to Sarno and Furlong equipment for weight reduction but he loved this amp. I know he has far more $$ invested in this amp than what he asking for it. I am also proud to call Ray a very close friend. Someone will get one of the best amps ever made!

Hey David
Thanks for the thumbs up as to my character and equipment. You personally have bought enough from me over the years to verify my integrity.
Now that I do not play out much, it's time to let a few things go. I did use this amp to play a local jam session this Saturday and it sure worked great and sounded sweet. But the bottom line is that I currently have too many amp setups and something needs to go.
I only plan on leaving this listed for a short time though. If the amp does not sell, I will put it back into my lineup.
Have a great weekend.

It looks like things are tough out here.
I had a couple of offers on the amp but I can not "give" it away.
I was hoping for a local sale as no one really likes to ship tube amps but I will, if necessary. This amp is in terrific condition and I have a lot of money tied up in it.
This amp would not be for sale if I didn't already have too many amps sitting around non used.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply, Bill M.
FYI: I do travel north a little ways on business. I am scheduled to make a trip to the lower GA area next week if that worked out for someone who wanted to personally meet up and pick up the amp. I really would prefer not to ship this amp.
If someone is serious about purchasing the amp, let me know and we can work out the details.
Thanks

* Mr Lowe, Thanks for the "humor". I certainly could use a little right about now. You would need to put one of those steels back up for sale to cover your gas cost from CT with that pickup truck.
It's good hearing from you.

It looks like only a few players really appreciate quality amps these days. This is obvious by the amount of serious responses to the post.
I talked with Ken Fox yesterday and he also mentioned the same thing. Thats why he is no longer producing his amp line which many players including myself, thought very highly of.
My situation is that I have two of these great amps and one really should go.
Thanks

I wish I had the $$, I would snatch this amp in a heartbeat. Not because I need it, I have one. Yours is in better cosmetic shape, and well worth your asking price.
No, I'm not a shill poster, and have no connection to the seller. I'm a longtime fan of my own '72 Vibrosonic Reverb, and I think they are often overlooked. This amp needs to be in action. Damn fine amplifier at a very reasonable rate. _________________ '84 Marlen Custom D-10, 8X4

I drove to Rochester NY from Mass. to buy mine, but my Honda gets 30+ MPG. Combined it with a college visit. Sounds like someone will get a well tuned amp! _________________ --carl
