Sorry for such a basic question. Aside from doing my A+ F lever for the I at three frets up, and doing my V with the E lever and the B, and doing my III minor with the E lowered, what are some good uses for raising and lowering the 4th string E?

I lower it when I'm going little scale runs (like coming into a scale on the 8th string with the E lowered), but are there some big fundamental things I could be doing with it that I'm missing?

Thanks!

The F lever with no pedals give you a diminished chord. Open it would be an Fdim. With the pedals it gives you an A augmented chord at the pedals down position (open - fret 0 - for A).

Also, you probably know that in the A&F position (3 frets up from the no pedals position) that you mentioned, letting off the A pedal will give you a 7th chord. E7th at the 3rd fret

Thanks so much. I definitely use those chords..not as good at using my diminished/augmented chords when playing songs as I should- probably need to watch some of mickey's videos.

I guess my question was more single note run specific (which doesn't make sense, since I talked about a bunch of chords)...that's probably way too broad of a question.

I drop the E sometimes, doing that faux C6 type thing too.

Look at my question now, I feel like it's way too general and broad. I guess of was think of ways to use the E/F change is fast runs, that were more than just doing my ti my typical major scale. Sorry if this question is just too ambiguous.

As a melodic device? I don't believe I have ever used that lever that way. I think of it as a harmonic feature

1 fret back from open - f raise with B pedal gives a cool 2 chord very Brumley. Emulates b to bflat change.

Here's a nice little lick to get to a seventh:

Pick strings 4 and 5 (any fret) with the 'A' pedal and 'F' lever engaged

With the strings still ringing, slide up one fret, and at the same time release the 'A' pedal (but keep the 'F' lever engaged)

With the strings still ringing, and with the 'F' lever still engaged (and the 'A' pedal still released) slide back down one fret
